Of not working and therefore having fun.

I have been hiding for a while but this year's Worldcon was in Glasgow and right on my doorstep at that (quite literally five minutes away). I thought about not going but having the world's biggest science fiction con that close AND cycling past it at least twice every day to get into town AND being at work instead of having fun meant that it wasn't an option. So I went. I am glad I did because I had a very, very, very good time. I shall probably put up a bit more detail than this but for just now I need to go back to the work I should have been doing instead of having fun.

Summary: I have a lot more books and a lot less money now than I did this time last week. Also last night is the first time I've slept more than 4 or 5 consecutive hours since the con started. Which isn't my fault at all since there was stuff to do from (the ungodly hour of) 0900 right until 2000 or so. And then a real-ale bar full of nice, interesting people to talk to. To my huge surprise all four of the ales they had were really rather nice but to be honest the good conversation was more of a reason to be very late to bed.

It was great meeting you - good to know another local fan, too !
([livejournal.com profile] nayela has hatched a plan involving meeting outside the Armadillo tomorrow at 2pm, and attempting to make use of our 2-for-1 passes to the Science Centre. I'm sure you're welcome too :-)

This sounds like fun. It also sounds like the perfect excuse to continue not doing the assignment that I wasn't doing while I was at WorldCon. Thus and therefore I will not yield to temptation (get thee behind me etc) and will instead continue with said assignment. It is (officially) due tomorrow, after all. Good luck with the passes!
It was good meeting you both, too - hopefully meeting up can be arranged at some point...

Oooh, good luck with the assignment !

(coincidentally, we're vaguely thinking of doing something on the weekend - maybe meeting in a pub somewhere, or playing Munchkin, or meeting in a pub somewhere and playing Munchkin. Will let you know if we approach something like a plan :-) )

(and a day later, I'm looking through the tabs in my browser and find that I didn't post this comment ! Oops ... )
