Of not working and therefore having fun.
Aug. 10th, 2005 12:41 pmI have been hiding for a while but this year's Worldcon was in Glasgow and right on my doorstep at that (quite literally five minutes away). I thought about not going but having the world's biggest science fiction con that close AND cycling past it at least twice every day to get into town AND being at work instead of having fun meant that it wasn't an option. So I went. I am glad I did because I had a very, very, very good time. I shall probably put up a bit more detail than this but for just now I need to go back to the work I should have been doing instead of having fun.
Summary: I have a lot more books and a lot less money now than I did this time last week. Also last night is the first time I've slept more than 4 or 5 consecutive hours since the con started. Which isn't my fault at all since there was stuff to do from (the ungodly hour of) 0900 right until 2000 or so. And then a real-ale bar full of nice, interesting people to talk to. To my huge surprise all four of the ales they had were really rather nice but to be honest the good conversation was more of a reason to be very late to bed.
