A couple of weeks ago, I decided that since I'm off work at the minute I could do worse than spend some time on my own, relaxing. I decided that I wanted to do a bit of travelling, so being skint (see out of work, above) I decided to go walking. West Highland Way, I decided, and see where I ended up from there.

I am, however, starting to wonder if this is a good idea. So far, I've had several postponements, due to domestic stuff, T.E.P.'s family concerns, impending bank holidays (not a good time to go out on a popular route...), weather, lack of organisation and finances in various combinations. I've also had extra expense due to my waterproof giving up the ghost, and while packing last night my rucksack died (I have now "borrowed" T.E.P.'s new rucksack).

This morning, I got as far as leaving. I even put up a wee LJ notice as to my whereabouts for the near future. And I got as far as Buchanan Street before running into another postponement due to (a) bag problems, since the new rucksack and I are having a bit of a personality clash and (b) yet more things which need me to be in reach of mail or phone for a couple of days (which is what I get for being organised and attending to business in town before going).

On the one hand I'm starting to get a little stressed at the delays and I could really do with a few days on my own. On the other, though, I'm starting to wonder if such a profusion of different hitches might not be someone or something's way of suggesting I might not want to do this*. And then of course, there's Murphy's law to consider. I knew there was going to be a price to be paid for that toast landing buttered-side upwards.

Ah, well. I didn't get to go today, but with any luck things'll work out. They generally do.

*Interpret this according to personal preference and/or beliefs. I'm not religious at all, myself, but there is such a thing as being able to take a hint. Or a joke; if whatever's running the universe had a sense of humour it would probably be pretty basic, after all.
